  • 2000 Brazilian police arrest Gloria Trevi, the Mexican pop star who had been on the run from authorities since mid-1999. Trevi, whose real name is Gloria de los Angeles Trevino, and her manager, Sergio Andrade, face charges of corrupting minors in Mexico.
  • 2000 Motown star Brian McKnight, in London for a live show at the Jazz Cafe, announces an upcoming eyebrow-raising collaboration with LeAnn Rimes.
  • 2000 A Manhattan grand jury indicts Sean “Puffy” Combs on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degree, for having two loaded 9-millimeter handguns in his possession. The charges stem from a Dec. 27, 1999, incident in which weapons were found in the rap mogul’s vehicle, following a shooting at a New York nightclub in which three were injured.
